Beginners Knitting Evening Class

This class runs from 6.30pm-9pm once a week from the start date for five consecutive weeks. Please note, we don't close for bank holidays.
Knitting is a fun and versatile craft. On this course you will learn the key techniques that will allow you to start making garments, homewares or even jewellery.
This is a friendly evening class is suitable for absolute beginners or anyone who learnt a long time ago and needs a refresher to get going again.
Techniques covered in this class include:
Casting on and off.
Knit and purl stitches, and combining them to create different textures
Increasing and decreasing
Understanding knitting patterns
Week 1 – Getting started: casting on and the knit stitch
Week 2 – Purl stitch, stitch patterns and casting off
Week 3 – Increasing and decreasing; following a pattern.
Week 4 – Starting your first full knitting project.
Week 5 – Finishing techniques.
You will learn all the basic techniques and create a neckwarmer, cowl or snood customised to you. Please note it will be helpful to practice with the yarn and needles provided between classes.
Your tutor Bronagh Miskelly is an experienced knitter who has created knitted pieces for designers as well as writing knitting patterns.
What you need to bring to this class:
For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However if have a knitting pattern you want to attempt bring it along for advice.
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8.

Please Note: Our classes are suitable for those aged 16 and over & for health and safety reasons, all students need to wear closed toe shoes when coming to the workshop.
