London Jewellery School takes its success across the UK with new franchise scheme
The award winning London Jewellery School attracts people from all over the UK and beyond – one current Diploma student commutes from Ireland once a week – and students regularly ask if it could
offer classes in other centres.
Now LJS is launching a franchise scheme to bring its unique ethos of
“everyone can make jewellery” and its popular range of classes to more locations across the UK.
Under the franchise programme, jewellers and aspiring business owners can apply to run their own version of the London Jewellery School at locations throughout the UK.
The announcement follows a successful year for LJS after the launch of its Diploma in Creative Jewellery course, international membership scheme and new distance learning courses. LJS has a
proven business model in the London branch, which has trained over 6,000 students since its launch just under 4 years ago.
Franchisees can expect a package of support from LJS including comprehensive training, initial startup tools and materials, an operations manual, national advertising and promotion and perhaps most invaluable one-on-one sessions with the school director Jessica Rose who built LJS from the ground up and hopes to support others in following a similar path. Jessica is an award-winning
businesswoman who has been described as a “true natural entrepreneur”.
Prospective franchisees are expected to come from a broad range of areas including professional jewellers wanting to branch out, craft or hobbyists looking for a new challenge and those that are
passionate about jewellery making wanting a career change.
The scheme itself is unique in the UK where jewellery franchises are about selling pieces and any “craft” related franchises have focused on children – the LJS programme is about creativity and bringing skills to adult learners. The ‘everyone can make jewellery’ ethos plays a central role in the franchise package, as the company’s vision is to bring accessible jewellery making to the world.
The initial costs for the scheme are £5,200 +VAT for a home-based model and £11,200 plus VAT for a larger, studio-based operation. This price includes all tools and materials needed to launch your first
classes, a thorough package of training and support from LJS, a protected territory for your training centre, a webpage with online booking facility and key marketing materials.
School Director, Jessica Rose who has put the package together and is responsible for overseeing the operations says:
‘The franchise is at the heart of what we want to do with LJS. I am passionate about spreading the fun and creativity of jewellery making to a wider audience and we can’t do that all on our own, that is why getting others from the industry and further afield involved will help us to grow a thriving network of jewellery schools, build the sector and support jewellers and enthusiasts to run their own
