Perspex is a type of plastic and is hugely versatile material that can be used for small subtle piece of jewellery as well as large fashion pieces. Also with a little thought and preparation Perspex jewellery can be made from home as it needs minimal equipment.
This class is suitable for students who have experience in working with perspex and would like to take their skills to the next level, working in more advanced ways and creating more complex pieces.
Techniques usually covered include:
- Texturing perspex
- layering and more complex use of metal with perspex
- Cuff making
- A focus on design
- more complex shapes and piercing
- Creating a statement/ catwalk piece
This class is predominantly design led and some time will be allowed to develop designs. However it would also be useful to bring any ideas you have and think about what you would like to make prior to the class.
Students usually make 1-2 pieces of unique jewellery to take away.
What you need to bring to this class:
For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However, it is a good idea to think about what you would like to make and bring any ideas you have; pictures, sketches or pieces you like. Don't worry if you don't have a project in mind as we have plenty of inspiration around our workshop too.
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8.
We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
