Advanced Stone Setting (3 Days)
This course is for anyone who has knowledge of basic stone setting, is confident in working in metal and would like to learn more advanced techniques in stone setting. If you make your own work and would like to be able to set your own stones then this is an ideal course.
Techniques covered in this class include:
- Building a claw setting.
- Tensions setting.
- And setting irregular stones.
Students will be expected to already know how to do a rub over setting, a tube setting and a gypsy setting. These are all covered in our two-day Stone Setting in Silver class.
The maximum number of students for this class is 7, our small class sizes allow plenty of individual attention.
Our expert tutor for this class is Gill Newton who also teaches advanced silver jewellery and stone setting in silver.
What you need to bring to this class:
For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However, it is a good idea to think about what you would like to make and bring any ideas you have; pictures, sketches or pieces you like. Don't worry if you don't have a project in mind as we have plenty of inspiration around our workshop too.
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 7.
We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
