It’s that time of year again! The biggest jewellery festival in the UK is hitting London for a week of exhibitions and events to celebrate the very best in jewellery. From the 6th-12th June there are events taking place all across London and to help you decide what to go and see, we’ve put together a list of our top picks…
14 Carat This exhibition brings together 14 designer makers who make ‘contemporary wearable designs to suit all styles and budgets’. Taking place at Craft Central, a creative hub home to many designer’s workshops, the exhibition is open from Tues 7th – Sat 11th June, and features work by LJS tutor Rebecca Steiner.
Jewel East This new event is an opportunity for upcoming designers to sell their work directly to the public at fashionable Spitalfields Market. Held 4 times a year, it’s well worth a visit, especially if you are looking for an opportunity to sell your own work as they are always on the lookout for new traders to book stands. Student Spotlight
Lucy Rowley attended our Beginners Metal Clay course last summer and has recently set up her own Etsy shop, ‘Vespertine Silver’. She has made some lovely oxidised, textured and stone-set silver clay pieces with a vintage feel. It’s great to see such unique silver clay work – if you’re an ex-student with a blog or website to share, let us know about it! Email us your details and a link to info@londonjewelleryschool.co.uk
LJS on the coverWe’re very excited to have one of our projects featured on the cover of Making Jewellery Magazine! The necklace combines wire wrapping with beading skills, and was made by school Director Jessica. The magazine is out now so make sure to grab a copy!
