London Jewellery School year in review

· · · Comments

On the last day of the year we’ve been looking back on 2015 which has been a very busy and exciting year for London Jewellery School.

Early in the year we were properly settling in to the new studios in the Brick Lane area, including the opening of our new entrance at 6 Osborn Street and making more slots available for people wanting to rent benches to work on their own pieces.

The new studios meant we had plenty of space for our annual supplier event in March which was probably our biggest yet – look out for news of the 2016 event coming soon.

The other big event of the year was our diploma student final exhibition where many of our diploma students were able to show of what they have learned as well as their talent and creativity in jewellery collection. You can see some examples of their work here.

There was also great news for former diploma student Sally Costen who was one of the winners of the F. Hinds High Street Design competition and saw her designs turned products sold by the jewellery chain. We are very proud of Sally’s success and wish her all the best in the future.

This year has also been about developing  new classes to help you to continue to build your jewellery schools and provide as many options as we can manage. Among the new classes we’ve launched a mixed media course, faux gems in polymer clay evening class, water casting silver, kumihimo braiding and a range of silver taster classes.

Plus we’ve launched a diploma course focusing exclusively on silver jewellery – the first one has sold out so we’ll be planning new dates for this soon.

Why not download our 2016 prospectus to find out more?

It has a busy year online as well. There has been the launch of LJS Online where you will find the same type of training we offer at the school delivered through online videos and kits. There are already five courses up and running including beading. metal clay and silver and there will be more added early in the new year. There is also our online equipment shop where you can order tools in association with Jewel Tool and we’ve added a range of free video tutorials to our YouTube channel.
