What is Wax Carving for Jewellery?
Wax carving is a wonderfully versatile technique used to create a huge range of jewellery from various forms of metal, and lends itself well to geometric and organic designs.
Typically, carving tools like rotaries, knives, and files are used to create pieces out of the wax, which can then be used to create a mold for use with metal, or can be casted in what is known as 'lost wax casting'. A variety of metal can be used to cast wax carved pieces, including bronze, silver, and gold.
